1.What is a grant? Describe the process. A grant is money awarded to an organization
for a specific purpose. The process begins when an organization has
funds and would like to distribute it out into the community. The application
is sent out into the community where organizations can apply for the grant. The
funding organization then decides who is the most worthy candidate of the
money.
2. What is youth philanthropy?
Youth philanthropy is defined as those programs and initiatives
which youth develop knowledge of and participate in the formal practice of
philanthropy: giving time, talent or treasures for the betterment of
community, specifically in the form of grantmaking.
3. Who can apply for a grant?
Nonprofit organizations with 501(c)3 status, charitable projects
of a governmental agency, or fiscal sponsors for a project in the Story County
community.
4. What types of grants are you
interested in funding? Grant proposals that address one or more
of these long-range objectives are greatly encouraged. Grants should: * Encourage Story County residents
to be welcoming and understanding of diverse ways of life
* Support strong, stable
communities, families, children, and youth * Address community needs in the
areas of education, health, mental health, poverty, financial instability,
human services, and environmental concerns
* Strengthen the nonprofit sector by
supporting nonprofit organizations, promoting philanthropy, and encouraging
civic involvement

grant?
It varies depending on need, but we offer
up to $1,000.
